The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is Canada's national police service and federal police force. Established in 1873, the RCMP serves as both a federal law enforcement agency with jurisdiction across all Canadian territory and, under contract, as the provincial police force in eight provinces and the territorial police in Canada's three territories.
