Man Sentenced to 31+ Years for Ordering Son to Kill Rapper PnB Rock
Freddie Lee Trone orchestrated the September 2022 robbery and murder at Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles in Los Angeles

Quick Facts
Freddie Lee Trone was sentenced to 31 years and 4 months to life in state prison on Monday, September 23, 2024, for his role in the murder of rapper Rakim Hasheem Allen, known professionally as PnB Rock. The sentencing took place at the Compton Courthouse following Trone's conviction in August 2024.
The fatal incident unfolded on September 12, 2022, at Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles restaurant in South Los Angeles. PnB Rock, a Philadelphia-based rapper best known for his 2016 hit "Selfish" and numerous guest appearances on other artists' tracks, was dining with his girlfriend when the violence erupted.
According to court documents and investigative reports, the rapper's girlfriend had posted a photo of their food and their restaurant location on Instagram before the incident. PnB Rock was wearing jewelry worth several hundred thousand dollars at the time.
Trone orchestrated the attack by ordering his 17-year-old son to rob the rapper. The teenager entered the restaurant, confronted PnB Rock, and demanded his jewelry, including chains, a watch, and rings. When the rapper resisted or during the course of the robbery, the young gunman opened fire, striking PnB Rock multiple times in the chest and back. The assailant also robbed PnB Rock's girlfriend at gunpoint during the assault. PnB Rock was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The conviction of Freddie Lee Trone represented a significant development in the high-profile case. Judge Connie Quinonez presided over the sentencing and denied Trone's motion for a new trial, upholding the guilty verdict.
During the sentencing hearing, PnB Rock's mother delivered an emotional victim impact statement, addressing Trone directly before the judge imposed his sentence.
